When I first started paying attention to Aaron Pierre it was his role in Krypton. And maybe it's the military aspect of it all because idk why out of all the roles I've seen him the "lust" only really hit me in that show and Lanterns. Something about that stoic, serious, strong, silent type....

Regarding #Lanterns I find it interesting the people who say John follows orders in the sense that he's mindlessly submissive. My read on Aaron Pierre's performance is more John does what he's told because he knows he's expected to fail at it. It's his own version of "Because fuck you, that's why."
