So, ignoring the fact that I like Zach Cregger and am pretty stoked for the new Resident Evil movie… People do know that we got EXACTLY what the person in this picture asked for right? Welcome to Raccoon City was based on the first 3 games and the end credits scene was a lead in to a sequel that would be based on 4. It only used existing monsters, established characters and had lore Easter eggs… How’d that work out for RE fans?

Dude I love Resident Evil as a series but I completely forgot a new movie was being made. Which means I didn't watch the trailers at all so I didn't know what to expect. My boyfriend and I love the series but we are long distance so we couldn't watch it together but he did treat me to the movie today since it's a public holiday here (he's watching it this weekend).

I hate the Resident Evil games but I might actually see the new movie just cuz Cregger did it. I don't really like horror as a genre except with comedy directors. Comedy people are the only ones who understand subverting expectation is what makes them entertaining, not brutality, gore or lore.

So yeah, I reviewed Zach Cregger's Resident Evil. Definitely the first RE film that's an actual pleasure instead of a guilty pleasure, but also an important lesson that slavish recreation of a game's universe isn't nearly as fun as seeing someone truly *play* in it. This is a blast, y'all. Go read.
